Groups and workshops
Workshops are paid in full at booking, are refundable up to 7 days before, and can be transferred to another person or date up to 48 hours before. Group programs are paid in full upfront and are closed after the first session. You can transfer to a future group before the first session, but fees are non-refundable once it starts. If you've attended a matching workshop in the previous 90 days, you'll receive a $75 credit off the group. If a group or workshop doesn't reach minimum numbers, we'll offer you a credit or a full refund.

Our Clients
Who we're a good fit for, and how to tell if we're the right place for you.
Our approach
Unburden Psychology & More brings psychologists and integrative health practitioners together under one roof. We look at the whole person, mind and body, because what you're carrying rarely sits in just one place. Our whole team is trauma-informed, we take the time to match you with the right practitioner, and you're welcome to combine services in a way that suits your needs, your time and your budget.
We work from calm, unhurried spaces in Graceville and Rocklea, and we'd rather do things properly than quickly.
Who we're a great fit for
People come to us for all sorts of reasons, but the clients who get the most from working with us often:

-
want to feel genuinely understood, not rushed through a session
-
have never seen a psychologist before and feel a bit nervous about it, and want someone to guide them through the process
-
have tried therapy before but haven't yet found the person they click with
-
are carrying the weight of past experiences, or going through something hard right now
-
suspect that what's going on isn't only in their head, and want support for their body as well as their mind
-
like the idea of combining approaches, such as therapy with acupuncture, naturopathy or our dietitian, or groups and workshops alongside individual sessions
-
are busy professionals, leaders or parents who have been holding it all together and are running on empty
-
are parents who want support for their child or teenager, and perhaps a little for themselves too
-
are couples who want to understand each other better and stop going around in circles
-
are women navigating perimenopause, when mood, sleep, gut and hormones can all be affected at once
-
are wondering whether they have ADHD, and want to talk it through before deciding on a formal assessment
-
like to understand the "why" behind what they're feeling, and want practical tools they can actually use
Most of all, our clients are people who are ready to invest a little time and care in themselves, and want a team that will do the same for them.
We're not the right fit for everyone
We'd rather be honest up front than have you find out later. There are some situations where another service will suit you better:

-
If cost is your main concern. We're a small private practice, and our fees reflect the real costs of running a business with highly qualified, experienced practitioners, at the level of care we want every client to receive. If you're looking for lower-cost psychology, the university psychology clinics in Brisbane (such as those at UQ, USQ, Griffith and QUT) offer reduced fees and do excellent work. Your workplace Employee Assistance Program (EAP) may also offer a few free sessions.
-
If you need a report for court or a firearms licence. We're not forensic psychologists, so we don't provide assessments or reports for court, family law matters or firearms licence applications. A forensic psychologist is the right person for this.
-
If you're unable to stay calm and respectful while you're with us. Many of the people who come to us are recovering from trauma, and our spaces need to feel safe for everyone. We have zero tolerance for aggression towards our team or other clients, in person, on the phone or in writing. If anger is something you'd like help with, that's okay and we may be able to help, as long as you can stay safe and respectful while you're with us.
-
If you're funded by NDIS. We have only a limited number of places for NDIS-funded clients, and these are often full. Please check with us before booking, or ask your support coordinator about other providers.
-
If you need urgent help. We're not a crisis or emergency service. If you or someone else is unsafe right now, please call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14, or go to your nearest hospital Emergency Department.
Not sure if we're right for you?
Give us a call on (07) 3137 1553 or email Hello@UnburdenPsych.au. Our Client Experience Officers are specially trained to help you work out the best starting point. And if we're not the right place for you, we'll do our best to point you towards someone who is.
