Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture for pain, hormones, sleep, digestion and mental health, with a practitioner who treats the whole person.
Who acupuncture can help
Acupuncture is one of the world's oldest forms of medicine, now supported by a growing body of modern research. By stimulating specific points on the body, it works with your nervous system to ease pain and tension, calm the stress response, improve circulation and support your body's natural balance. Every treatment is tailored to you, whether you're coming for a sore back, painful periods, poor sleep or anxiety. People often come to acupuncture at Unburden for:
-
stress, burnout and feeling constantly wired
-
anxiety and low mood, alongside psychological therapy
-
trauma held in the body, such as tension, pain or never quite feeling settled
-
back, neck and shoulder pain, headaches and other chronic pain
-
poor sleep and fatigue
-
digestive concerns
-
reproductive and hormonal health, including painful or irregular periods and perimenopause
Many people notice a difference straight away, which makes acupuncture a good place to start if you need some relief before you're ready to work on what's underneath.
Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET)
Where it's clinically appropriate, Suzanne combines acupuncture with Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET). NET is a gentle mind-body technique that aims to identify and release stress patterns held in the nervous system, often linked to past emotional experiences. It can suit people who carry stress or trauma in their body as well as their mind, and who find some patterns hard to shift through talking alone. NET is a newer approach with an emerging evidence base, and Suzanne will talk you through whether it's a good fit for you.
Psychology & more
Why Unburden Psychology & More
Acupuncture here isn't a stand-alone treatment in a separate clinic. Suzanne works alongside our psychologists, so if your physical symptoms and your mental health are tangled together, your care can be coordinated, with a warm referral either way when it would help. You don't have to start with psychology. Plenty of people start with acupuncture for quick relief, then work on the deeper stuff with a psychologist when they're ready. And like our whole team, Suzanne is trauma-informed, so your sessions are paced and comfortable, and you're always in control.
